Anna Lisa Martin-Niedecken is a Senior Researcher in Game Design, Department of Design, Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) and CEO and Co-Founder of the ZHdK spin off, Sphery.

About Anna Lisa

With her background in sports science, Anna Lisa’s research (and development) work mainly focuses on exergames, physical eSports, health games, game experience research, and HCI in Sports. Furthermore, Anna offers specific teaching and advanced training modules in the field of Serious & Applied Games and supervises student theses and research projects in various fields such as game design, sports/movement sciences or computer science.

In March 2018 Anna Lisa founded the Fitness Gaming Startup Sphery Ltd. Sphery has set itself the goal of revolutionizing the fitness and health industry with a combination of innovative and research-based playful designs and training concepts.

In addition to distributing the ExerCube as training and therapy tool, Sphery launched its own eSports League in 2020 – the “ExerCube League”, the first physical and inclusive eSports League in the world. For this, Sphery was awarded the prestigious FIBO Innovation & Trend Award (2019 and 2020) for the second year in a row, was part of the ISPO Brandnew Selection 2020, and won the German Innovation Award 2020.
