About Athanasios

In 2019 Athanasios was awarded a PhD in Computer Science from the University of York where he also acquired an MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience. Prior to this Athanasios received a BSc in Psychology from the University of Bangor.

Athanasios’s PhD study, ‘Exploring the relationship between video game expertise and fluid intelligence’, featured across mainstream and specialist media.

His PhD experiments found that visuospatial abilities, emotionality and aging are all linked to one’s video game performance. Athanasios believes that these scores may give us insight on multiple developmental trajectories that will in turn help us understand healthy aging.
